The first NASCAR race at the remarkable Texas Motor Speedway was won by Jeff Burton in 1997. And talk about the drama. The first lap of this introductory race came to a halt when a huge wreck took place at turn 1.
This 1.5 mile quad-oval near Fort Worth Texas is fast becoming known as one of the fastest tracks on the NASCAR circuit with speeds over 194 mph. The 24 degree banking turns assist in the frequent cautions that keep the field racing close together which, in turn, makes for exciting finishes.
Track owner Bruton Smith loves NASCAR racing and has created a first-class facility at the Texas Motor Speedway. With seating available for over 150,000 fans, this speedway is one of the biggest of NASCAR. Everything is bigger and better in Texas, and the Texas Motor Speedway is just one of the proofs of that.
