Pocono Raceway Long Pond, PA (map)
|
The raceway at Pocono is one of the most unusual track layouts on the NASCAR schedule. Pocono Raceway has a massive front straight of 3,055 ft. that often sees cars a few wide across the track before they funnel down into turn one.
The triangle-shaped track has three different corner lengths and bankings from 6-14 degrees making it very difficult to set up a car and to drive well. But, they leave the NASCAR fans in complete awe as the drivers manage these difficulties with success. Pocono is, in a word, unique. Built in 1968, it did not see its first NASCAR race until the mid 70’s where Richard Petty drove to victory. Pocono Raceway frequently hosts some great racing with races often decided within the last couple of laps.
You will absolutely find yourself having a grand time at the Raceway at Pocono!
