In 1960, Joe Lee Johnston was the first in victory lane for his stupendous race at Lowes Motor Speedway in Concord, North Carolina. Located in the heart of NASCAR country, Lowes Motor Speedway is centralized with many NASCAR teams homed only 30 miles away.
Since 1960 this famous 1.5 mile quad-oval has hosted some legendary races including the Coca-Cola 600. In addition to a rough truck series event in May and a Busch series race to compliment both of its cup series events, Lowes Motor Speedway also hosts the NEXTEL All-Star Race, formerly known as "The Winston".
Track owner Bruton Smith has a well-deserved reputation for putting the fans first and although the track is over 40 years old, Lowes Motor Speedway is one of the best places on the NASCAR circuit to watch a race.
