Daytona Int'l Speedway 1801 W. Int. Speedway Blvd. Daytona Beach, FL (map) |
The name of the city blazes ‘Racing’. Opening in 1959, the Daytona International Speedway is a straight forward ticket to a fabulous frenzy! Hosting the grand-daddy of all NASCAR races- the Daytona 500 in February and the Pepsi 400 in July, the Daytona International Speedway is home to an extensive track of 2.5 miles! These 2 NEXTEL races are the most spectacular, and fastest… not to mention nerve wrecking events in all of NASCAR.
Owned by the International Speedway Corp., Daytona is also known for its tri-oval design that enhances the race significantly. Since the cars drive so close together, by using restrictor plates to keep the speeds manageable and taming the aerodynamics of the cars, it helps to reduce the chance of 40 car pile-ups on “The Big One”. NASCAR drivers all agree that winning at Daytona is their goal… and they aim for it to be the highlight of their careers.
The races at Daytona International Speedway are defiantly ones to see!
